Some well intentioned teachers try to solve their students’ problems by assigning solos and music for which the student is not ready, hoping that this music will cause the talented few to rise to the occasion or that “musical” playing will correct bad technique.

How often have you heard that someone is a great instrumentalist because they are a “natural” and that “naturals” are rare? That is not true! Playing a brass instrument is easy if done correctly.
